El 31 de agosto de 1.813 San Sebastián fue incendiada por las tropas anglo-portuguesas, lideradas por el duque de Wellington, para liberar la ciudad del ejército francés. La comida escaseaba en esa época. Restos de pan acompañados de azúcar, fueron suficientes para crear este dulce, que fue bautizado como “Inglesito” en recuerdo al duque de Wellington.

On the 31st of August 1813, the city of San Sebastian was burned by the Anglo-Portuguese. Led by the Duke of Wellington, the city was freed from the French army. There was very little food available during that period. Left over bread mixed with sugar was sufficient to create this cake which was named “Inglesito” “Little Englishman” in memory of the Duke of Wellington.

1813ko abuztuaren 31n tropa angloportugaldarrek su eman zioten Donostiari. Wellington dukea buru, hiria Frantziako ejerzitoarengandik askatu zuten.
Jatekoa urri zen garai hartan ogi-papurrak azukre pixka batekin nahastea aski izan zen Wellington dukearen omenez “Inglesito” izena jaso zuen gozo hau sortzeko.

Le 31 août 1813, les troupes anglo-portugaises incendièrent Saint-Sébastien. Emmenées par le Duc de Wellington, elles libérèrent la ville de l’armée française.
À cette époque de disette, on eu l’idée d’accompagner de sucre les restes de pain pour créer cette gourmandise baptisée Inglesito - « le petit Anglais » – en l’honneur du Duc de Wellington.
